Equine Rehabilitation
Asentia work with horses that need post-operative, or post-traumatic care, and horses that may be on box rest. For many of us who are working and have horses at home, this can be a very stressful period producing logistical problems that seem impossible to overcome. This is a time when horses need to receive more attention to help them process the physical, mental and emotional effects of the trauma of surgery, accidents, illness and box rest.
The effects of general anaesthetics and sedation can stay in an animal’s body for a long period of time and in quite a few cases can compromise their survival system to one degree or another. This can slow down the healing process because the body is unable to repair itself at its optimum levels.
Box rest can be very stressful, especially if the horse is used to being turned out all the time and has to be separated from the herd or friends. Asentia’s facility provides carefully controlled interaction with other horses and a pen-style turnout direct from the stable to help keep the horse interested.
How Can Asentia Help With Equine Rehabilitation?
The team work using a combination of healing and natural training techniques to enhance the healing process for your horse, and to introduce the first steps towards riding fitness. We offer the owner a stress-free option during their horse's recovery. Equine rehabilitation takes place at the livery yard, located near the village of Slinfold in West Sussex.
Asentia treatments do not provide a diagnosis of your animal’s problems, but aim to complement any veterinary care that is required. Please be aware that it will be necessary for Asentia to get the permission of your vet before undergoing treatment.
How Much Does Equine Rehabilitation Cost?
Rehabilitation Livery: £200 per week
Includes:
- Mucking out
- Turning out and bringing In
- Grooming
- All feed and hay
- One bale of shavings per week (additional bales at cost)
- Up to 3 therapy treatments a week.
Excludes:
- Worming
- Farriery
- Supplements and veterinary expenses.
